The Maryland Department of Transportation needed a website redesign to provide traffic advisory reports and a live webcast of traffic conditions, EZ pass information, email alerts and advisories, and information in Spanish.
Balance Interactive was tasked with coding the site in CSS using Maryland-mandated Section 508 requirements in tandem with implementing a content management system (CMS).
Balance Interactive successfully implemented the Joomla content management system within the state mandates and branding guidelines. The set up allows Department of Transportation staff to maintain the content of the site.
The website has Section 508 compliance and other state accessibility requirements built in. As new content is added, accessibility is maintained.
A landing page was established to share the various components of the Spike & Otis safety campaign. The landing page was set up in a way that ensures that all site visitors saw the page, and could choose to navigate to the various components or return to the BayBridge home page. Among the elements, visitors could listen to the radio spots that are part of the campaign. The page was integrated into the Joomla CMS.
Among the many services offered at the website, visitors can view live feeds of bridge area traffic cameras. With a click, visitors can pick from three different views of traffic conditions. The technology used to set up this service was done to ensure maximum accessibility across computer types and access speeds.
