Palmer Land Trust Website Redesign

About the Project

Balance Interactive created a new design and information architecture for the Palmer Land Trust website. The work included implementing a new information architecture, a content management system and new website features. Balance Interactive also implemented a contact management system to give Palmer greater capabilities for tracking information about donors and protected lands.

The Balance Interactive solution included:

Content Management with Drupal

Balance Interactive developed the new Palmer Land Trust website using the Drupal content management system. The new site allows Palmer staff to add modules of content and tools on a page-by-page basis. The site can easily grow as Palmer acquires new properties and as their offering of activities and events expands. The client can add and edit pages in WSYWIG –what you see is what you get—views.

Contact Management with CiviCRM

The CiviCRM contact management system was implemented to allow Palmer to track donors, event registrations, property monitoring activities and more. The system was set up using legacy data from Palmer’s records. Several separate business functions were integrated into the system, creating one repository for all staff members to use. The system is integrated with Palmer’s website, so data collected from the site is automatically saved properly into the CiviCRM system.

Interactive Design with Stunning Visual Appeal

The Palmer Land Trust is a public, non-profit land dedicated to the permanent protection of open space, agricultural, scenic and natural lands in southeastern Colorado. Pictures are the best way to tell the story of this organization’s success, so the new website features stunning photography of protected lands. Balance Interactive created a design that features existing photography and can easily accommodate new images. The result is a visual design that strongly supports the Palmer message and mission.

Interactive Tools

Website visitors now can use an interactive map of the Palmer service area, seeing what areas are protected. They can also view success stories that illustrate how the organization works and its impact. A conservation library was added that aggregates key documents related to protected lands into one place; a searchable interface makes it easy for users to find documents.
