Balance Develops Website for Pat Herrity for Chairman

When Pat Herrity decided to run for Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, he contacted Balance Interactive to create a website that would engage his constituents and disseminate his message in a meaningful way. Balance Interactive helped the campaign launch an engaging website in time for the candidate’s announcement.

The resulting website enables visitors to engage in dialogue with the candidate through social media techniques. It also offers a mechanism to encourage supporters to subscribe to a newsletter, to join the campaign through grassroots efforts (literature drops, phone bank help, work the polls, etc.), and to donate to the campaign.

The website is built on the Wordpress content management system (CMS) and is easy for campaign staff to maintain. It leverages social media techniques such as: Share This (an easy way to enable people to share content with their friends and save it for themselves), blogging and photo gallery populated with images in Flickr. It also features an integrated Action Center that allows visitors to support the campaign through their interest, time, or donations all in one spot: www.patherrity.org/action-center/

The website had an immediate positive impact on the campaign. Less than a month after launch, the candidate has had almost 200 hundred people sign-up for his newsletter. The public is also demonstrating interest in engaging in dialogue with the candidate through blog comments.
