GoodDogz.org Website Redesign and Social Media Community

About the Project

GoodDogz.org is a non-profit animal welfare organization that supports rescue groups and dogs seekers/adopters through public education programs. Balance Interactive was asked to help transition GoodDogz.org from a “grassroots” website design to a more professional, functional structure. Balance Interactive was also tasked with developing social media strategies and tools to help turn www.gooddogz.org into an online, support community.

Website Design and Development

Balance Interactive worked closely with the GoodDogz.org staff to create a new design that accommodated a wealth of information, integrated social media technology and gave the organization a more professional look.  Video was integrated on the home page using Flash technology.

Targeted Information Architecture

Balance Interactive recommended audience-based navigation to help target the areas of the website to key audiences, making it easier for users to find information.

Social Media Strategy

By customizing GoodDogz.org’s NING online community, Balance Interactive was able to feed elements from NING directly into the website. Newsletter sign-up was integrated to help grow the organization’s member base. Blogging is important for search engine optimization, so Balance Interactive integrated two Wordpress blogs into the website and designed them to match the overall site design.

Content Management

The new site was built using the Joomla content management system. The CMS was selected by Balance Interactive after careful consideration of the organizations resources and capabilities. GoodDogz volunteers are able to maintain all of the sites features with this tool.
